Pretreatment & Aftercare
Pretreatment & Aftercare
Before your cosmetic tattoo treatment with us, there are a few key things you need to know. Please read through the following information carefully and get in touch with any questions.
Before Treatment
All of our cosmetic tattoo services — Microblading, Combo Brows, Nano Brows, Nano Combo Brows, and Lip Blushing — are completed over two appointments. After your initial session, the treated area will heal over approximately 4 weeks, retaining around 60–70% of the pigment. Your touch-up appointment at 4–8 weeks is essential to refresh the work and bring the pigment back to its full result. If you skip the touch-up, the treated area will still look lovely, but it won’t last the full 12–24 months.
Things to Consider Before Your Appointment
— Avoid coffee, alcohol, and energy drinks on the day of your treatment.
— Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen within 24 hours before your appointment.
— Avoid omega-3 (fish oil) supplements for 1 week before treatment.
— No tanning or intense sun exposure for 3 days before treatment.
— Avoid waxing the area for 2–3 days before treatment.
— No chemical peels, dermabrasion, laser treatments, or Botox within 2 weeks before or after treatment.
— Skin should be healthy, non-irritated, and blemish-free. We are unable to work over spots or moles.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
— If you have sensitive skin or allergies, a patch test is required at least 24 hours before your procedure.
— We’ll begin with a consultation to discuss your expectations and desired results.
— For brow services, we’ll map out your shape using the golden ratio method, ensuring it complements your face shape, features, and expressions. We’ll check the shape both lying down and upright, and you’ll have full input on thickness, length, and overall look before we begin.
— For lip blushing, we’ll map out a shape that suits your natural lip line and discuss colour and finish to achieve your desired result.
— We’ll select the perfect pigment colour together.
— An anaesthetic is applied during the procedure to keep you comfortable.
— Once complete, the area is thoroughly cleaned and a balm is applied.
— Full aftercare instructions will be provided before you leave.
Please note: Results cannot be guaranteed.
Skin Conditions That May Affect Results
The following conditions can impact pigment retention and longevity. If any apply to you, you may require additional appointments or more frequent touch-ups:
— Very oily skin
— Enlarged pores or acne-prone skin
— Sensitive or reactive skin
— Eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or melasma
— Very thick, dark, or coarse brow hair (for brow services)
A shaded technique may offer better longevity for some skin types, but results cannot be guaranteed.
If You’ve Had Previous Cosmetic Tattoo Work
If you’ve had brows or lip tattoos done by another artist, please get in touch before booking. In most cases we are unable to work over existing tattoos unless they are sufficiently faded. Removal of the previous tattoo may be required before new work can be done.
Please follow these instructions carefully, good aftercare directly affects your results.
Day of Treatment
Take it easy and keep the treated area as undisturbed as possible.
30 minutes after treatment: Gently dab the area with a damp cotton pad to remove lymph fluid and any previously applied balm. Apply a thin layer of hydra gel using a clean cotton tip, avoid using your fingers.
For the rest of the day: Repeat this process 3–5 times to keep the area clean and prevent scab formation.
Brow Aftercare (Microblading, Combo Brows, Nano Brows, Nano Combo Brows)
The first 7 days: No water, no sweat, no sun.
— Avoid getting your brows wet in the shower or when washing your face.
— Apply a small amount of hydra gel with a clean cotton tip 3–5 times a day.
— From around day 7, when scabbing or flaking begins, reduce to washing and applying hydra gel morning and evening.
— Continue until fully healed.
— If brows accidentally get wet, dry them immediately with a clean dry towel.
— Avoid any activity that causes sweating, this pushes pigment out of the skin.
Things to avoid during healing:
First 7–10 days:
— No makeup or products on the brows
— Do not pick, scratch, or peel the healing area
— Avoid sleeping on your face
— Avoid direct sun exposure
— Avoid workouts and sweating
— Avoid facial massage, steaming, and saunas
For 30 days:
— Avoid sunbathing, solarium, and light therapies
— Avoid chemical peels, fruit acids, and microdermabrasion
— Avoid creams containing regenerating or active ingredients over the treated area
— Avoid laser treatments over the area (including IPL and Fraxel)
— these can destroy pigment and cause burns
— Note that antibiotics and hormonal therapy can contribute to faster pigment fading
Lip Blushing Aftercare
Lips heal differently to brows and need a little extra care in the first week.
The first 7 days:
— Keep lips clean and moisturised. Apply a thin layer of the provided healing balm regularly throughout the day using a clean cotton tip.
— Avoid getting lips excessively wet, pat dry gently if needed.
— Avoid picking, peeling, or rubbing the lips as they heal and flake. This is normal and letting it happen naturally protects your result.
— Avoid kissing, excessive facial movement, and stretching the lip area where possible in the first few days.
— Avoid spicy, salty, or heavily acidic foods during the first week as these can irritate the healing skin.
— Avoid hot drinks and hot food, eat and drink at a lukewarm temperature.
— Do not apply lipstick or lip products other than the provided balm for at least 7–10 days.
For 30 days:
— Avoid sunbathing and UV exposure on the lips, always use SPF once healed.
— Avoid lip fillers, laser treatments, and chemical peels over the treated area.
— Avoid exfoliating lip products and actives in the area.
— Note that antibiotics and hormonal therapy can contribute to faster pigment fading.
